Cuba Weather

The climate of Cuba is semitropical, Cuban territory is near the Tropic of Cancer, and due to its configuration and orientation, long and narrow, oriented from east to west, receives the refreshing action of tradewinds and marine breezes.

The Cuban archipelago usually has a relatively humid climate, from 75% to 95% of relative humidity, influenced by the Gulf Stream and the Northeast winds. We recommend to bring with you an umbrella or a raincoat and you should wear cotton fabrics.

The annual rainfall averages about 1320 mm ( 52 in ). More than 60 percent of the rain falls during the wet season, which extends from May to October. The air's relative humidity reaches its highest value during the first hours of the morning and late afternoon. Average temperature ranges between 26 and 28 ºC . On the mountain the average temperature is bellow 26 ºC (Sierra Maestra mountain dips to below 20 ºC).

During the summer the heat is rather intense but agreeable. Winters are short and pleasant. Spring is almost everlasting throughout the archipelago. The weather in cuban eastern region enjoys a warmer climate than the west.

During winter, cold air masses coming from the North sweep over the island, these fronts usually last a short time.

The Hurricane season lasts from June through November but Cuba is often spared the worst to it's positioning in the Caribbean seas, often these tropical systems bring strong showers and sea floods. With the exception of a few winter days, the Cuba Island 's climate is generally marvelous with 300 days of sun during the year.
