Hello.. Jan 30th2009 till Feb 6,2009 my 3 sisters and I stayed at Solymar in Varadero, the Resort was great ..and had very friendly staff,and they were very helpfull, The Activities were great and they always ask if we would love to join in.. The bartenders always had good drinks for us. OUr rooms were spaceous and very clean and tidy. The Resturants had very good food.and the Buffet was unbelievable alot to choose from. I can't believe some of the negative reviews i have heard about his place .. all 4 sister had a great time and have told alot of our friend's about your Hotel. and we would love to come back again. With the white beach,beautiful sunrises and sunsets and great staff who wouldn't want to go there tks again for a great and unforgetable sister's get away.

we have just come back from cuba.
we had to stay at this hotel,for one night due to our flight been cancelled. this hotel was far better then the hotel we stopped at, palma real. the food was great service was good the rooms could do with doing up,our room was over the bar so it was a bit noice's. we won't be returning back to cuba. we have been to better place's then this!!!

Pour avoir un Catamaran il faut se lever de bonne heure bien que'il y en aie
qui attendent sur la plage.Je pense qu'il faut plonger dans son porte-monnaie,ce que je refuse.
Les spectacles le soir sont merveilleux.Toute mon admiration pour
Danilo le choregraphe et ces dancers et
baillerinas.
J'espère lors de mon prochain séjours
je pourrai faire un peu de catamaran.

I have travelled to many places in my life and have NEVER experienced the wonderful service, food and hospitality that I had until Barcelo Solymar.
I plan to visit Cuba again and I will definately stay at the Solymar. This hotel is clean, large and is always up to the excellent standards that any Canadian would expect in a hotel situated in another country.
Forget the Hilton, trust me you would be soooo happy at the Barcelo Solymar. Take this advice from a picky Italian!

We just have visited this beautiful hotel and country in the early September 2006.
The hotel, services, staff, all inclusive system and all infrastructure were excellent.
We were like in a honeymoon and we were very impressed by the offered conditions in this hotel.
I could recommend to anyone this hotel! You will not regret!
It is worthing every Euro paid for this holiday!

This was a very beautiful hotel, the beach was of course the best part, the pool(s) were very nice as was every single member of there staff. There are several bars spread out nicely through the facility so where ever you are you can get a drink. I am going back On the 10th of March and am very excited to do so. Ignore the bad reviews i have been to Cuba about ten times and this is my favorite hotel yet!

Our first trip to Cuba. We had the Sunday evening flight from Montréal to Varadero. No problems on the airport, Vacances Air Canada had it well arranged for us. By bus in 20 minutes to the hotel.
We arrived at the Barcelo Solymar around 10 PM, February 19. It's an excellent resort with a good atmosphere. Hotel staff is very nice and helpfull: 5 on 5. We tipped our maid every day with a little present, which is highly appreciated. Don't always tip, yet don't be cheap either; in Cuba everyone has a place to stay and enough food (by ticket system from the government), yet luxe products like cola or a small backpacks are expensive compared to their salaries, so a nice tip here are there is reasonable, unless they give you a crappy service, which happened only once in our case. Fridge was always filled up with water and beer. We stayed in a bungalow close to the pool. A clean, spacious 2-floor building. Lodging: 5 on 5. The key is a simple is card with a magnet strip, you can use as well for your locker inside the bedroom. First we expected it to be rather noisy from outside (music stops around midnight), yet with airco on and doors closed, it's silent inside. There are two, low level pools (max depth 1m20): 4 on 5.
There are 4 bars; one at each pool, one at the beach and the lobby bar, that is open 24 hours per day. Service is fast. Buffet food is average, 3 on 5; sea food restaurant is good! Reserve as early as possible for one of the 3 à la carte restaurants (sea food, Cuban, Italian). There are a lot of activities to do; at the beach sailing, diving, water bike, banana boat. Also outise activities (catamaran trip, jeep trip, several trips to Havana). 5 on 5 for activities. Beach is beautifully white wth sans texture so fine, it feels like silk. The sea is clean, clear and it's beautifully blue/emerald coloured: 5 on 5. Finally, the Barcelo organizes a lot to entertain people; afternoon- and evening shows. One week later we had a perfect trip back to cold Montréal. We enjoyed an excellent vacation at the Barcelo Solymar! We will return for sure to Cuba, yet somewhere else, as we have seen Varadero now. Overall rate: 4.5 on 5.

Once you have paid for your reservation, the following cancellation policy applies:
- If you cancel the reservation 48 hours or more before your intended arrival date, we will refund you the total amount that you paid minus an administration fee equivalent to 3% of paid amount, with a minimum of EUR 15.
- If you cancel the reservation less than 48 hours of your expected check-in date, we will refund you the total amount paid minus the amount of the first night of your intended stay.
- If you do not arrive at the hotel on the date of your expected check-in, we will refund you the total amount paid for the reservation minus the amount of the first night of your intended stay for no-show charges. Refunds must be requested in writing within 60 days of the date of your intended stay at the hotel. Once this period has passed, no refunds will be made.
We will not make refunds to credit cards, other than the credit card that was used for your booking. We may process refunds via wire transfer, in which case we will deduct any bank charges from the refundable amount. We aim to process refund within 72 hours after receiving your refund request and required information.
Payment Policy:
Reservations require payment in advance. Your credit card will be debited within 24 hours after making your reservation. Accepted credit cards - VISA, MASTERCARD. Your bill will state: www.ctnres.com. The total charge includes all room charges and taxes, as well as fees for access and booking. Any incidental charges such as parking, phone calls and room service will be handled directly between you and the property.
Hotels will provide accommodation to the person under whose name the reservation was made (“lead passenger”), and to accompanying persons as per the exact amount of adults and children booked into each room. The lead passenger must be present at the time of check-in.
Bed type and smoking preferences are not guaranteed. Your reservation is guaranteed for late arrival. Accommodation is usually available from 16:00hrs on the day of arrival and must be vacated by 11:00hrs on the day of departure. The number of guests in each room is limited to the number of beds provided by the hotel. If the number of persons arriving at the hotel is different to the one selected during the reservation process, or children are not of the age required to classify as such in terms of rates/discounts (see "Children Policy"), additional charges will apply, payable directly to the hotel.
Child Policy:
Infants up to 1 year 11 months: free of charge. Children rates will be confirmed during the online reservation process. Children rates apply for ages 2 - 11 years, and only when sharing room with two adults. Children 2-11 years sharing room with 1 adult must be booked as adults (double/twin room). Children 12 years and older must always be booked as adults.
