Cuba Information
Matanzas Province
Cuba Destinations - Matanzas Province Matanzas boasts a variety of attractions among which is the beach at Varadero.

Today, this tourist destination — alongside the city of Havana — receives many visitors that come to Cuba. It has its own international airport, varied and substantial hotel options and resorts, and various excursions to satisfy all visitors.

The fine white sands and the turquoise blue sea are the main appeal of Varadero. The resorts also offer all sorts of water sports (motorized and non-motorized) and, in particular, you can dive among the 32 dive sites that stretch from Matanzas Bay to the extreme western point of the Gardens of the King archipelago.

The Hicacos Point ecological reserve boasts something different for visitors: an invitation to explore the Ambrosio and Musulmanes caves where dozens of indigenous pictographs are preserved; and close to the Mangón Lagoon, you can observe some 662 species of birds, and 24 reptiles, and admire the Patriarch, a cactus that is said to be more than 600 years’ old.

This zone is also home to an international parachute centre; the Varadero Golf Club, the only professional course in Cuba with 18 holes par 72; a dolphinarium, and a chance to swim with the dolphins; dozens of excursion options on sailboats and catamarans to islands off the north coast; rides on aqua rays along the southern canal zone; and the possibility to organize a meeting in the Plaza América Convention Center. There’s also a chance to fill your lungs with healthy air in the city’s Josone Park, another great option to pass time in a city, that, in addition, also boasts plenty of nightlife come sundown.
