Playa Esmeralda is protected by extensive coral reefs, cliffs and flourishing tropical vegetation. This beach, which features excellent hotels and services, sits in a large coastal area some 18 kilometers long and with 40 off-shore diving spots. The sea bed is complex and irregular and formed of small hills, caves, valleys and cliffs. In some places, the seabed descends gradually to form terraces covered in sea fans, corals and gorgonias. Many tropical colored fish can be found here, too.
Esmeralda Beach is found on the northern coast in eastern Cuba in the province of Holguín, in an area considered part of the Naranjo (Orange) Bay, where visitors find three first-class hotels.
The surrounding area features mountains, valleys, grottoes, caves and 41 beaches facing the Atlantic Ocean. Within this area is the cove Estero Ciego (Blind Cove), rich in tropical wildlife, and named as such because no river flows into the sea here.
Playa Esmeralda is found 65 kilometers from Frank País International Airport situated in the suburbs of the provincial capital, Holguín.
Playa Esmeralda is a beach with clean and clear water; with fine sandy beaches, flourishing tropical coastal vegetation, and surrounded by unique landscape features.
